Program and Book of abstract from Moviss 2018
Following the success of the first MOVISS Bio&Data, we would like to invite you to be a part of making the second even better!
MOVISS – the “Mountain Village Science Series” takes place in Vorau, Austria (Sep 9-12th, 2018). MOVISS is different to the usual conferences. It is designed as a small, problem-driven meeting, full of discussions and questions about how to deal with metabolomics data reasonably. In this way, we hope to constructively engage some of the greatest minds collaboratively on solving some of the challenges of the metabolomics and bioinformatics community. Together with hiking tours and social program, MOVISS is planned to be friendly and relaxing meeting for scientists interested in the fields of metabolomics and statistics.
Peter Filzmoser and Tomáš Adam
Invited speakers
Royston Goodacre, University of Manchester
Steffen Neumann, Leibniz Institute of Plant Biochemistry
Tomáš Pluskal, Whitehead Institute for Biomedical Research
Johan Westerhuis, University of Amsterdam
Age Smilde, University of Amsterdam
Beata Walczak, University of Silesia in Katowice
Program
Four sessions are planned, each devoted to a separate step of the metabolomics process:
1) Shiny design: What is important when designing experiments?
2) Misty mountains: How to find peaks hidden in mists? What is a real peak?
3) Mountain safety: awareness of strengths and weakness of statistical tools
4) Home run: Results Interpretation – Be creative, critical and think next?
